2011 Dominican Republic Mission Trip

The vision for this mission trip has been to….
Evangelize – We certainly had many opportunities to evangelize the village in Barahona.
Encourage – We were we able to encourage the believers here and they were a great encouragement to us.
Enjoy – We have definitely enjoyed co-laboring with CC Delta in the ministry at Barahona.
May GOD continue to get His Glory!

Day 1:

(Pastor Lewis, Vincente, & two village boys with the team)
You also gave YOUR good SPIRIT to instruct us (Nehemiah 9:20)
God showed us our first divine appointment the moment we all packed into the van on our way to the airport. Pastor Bill went through the entire gospel with the driver and the rest of us sang gospel songs to support the message.  We lost our van reservation when we arrived in Santo Domingo. The situation looked grim but, we quickly remembered “that which looks like an accident is ordered by the LORD”. Sure enough we got a better a van, saved $400.00, and most importantly Pastor Bill witnessed to a lady in the line.  After a 3 1/2 hour plane flight, and a 4 hour car drive through traffic filled villages, an amazing ocean view, and beautiful mountains, we finally arrived at the mission house in the village of  Barahona.  We spent the evening as a team preparing our hearts in prayer seeking HIM for the next day.

Day 2:

(The team met with the Ramirez family)
They were friendly and invited us into their home so we could share the GOOD NEWS. The LORD dropped HIS word “To Come As You Are” and the Ramirez family received Jesus. We personally experienced households coming to Christ. Please pray for them!
“So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Acts 16:31
The Lord has been recently giving Diana dreams calling her to Himself and warning her that the end is near. Simply, GOD was preparing her heart for the divine appointment that HE was setting up. When Diana and the team met, she asked for a new floor in her home. Although, we couldn’t build a floor, instead, we offered a new set of stairs to Heaven by sharing God’s Good News. Diana and her family received Christ! Please pray for Diana and her household. Joel 2:28

Day 3:

The message for today is to know our greatest need which is “fellowship with God” 1 John 1:3
Today the team cleaned the grounds to prepare the church service in the new chapel. The picture above is the pre-service set up.

Pastor Bill teaching the Word out of 1st John encouraging the joy of fellowship with GOD, with Lewis translating. It was a real blessing to be a part of the first service that took place under in new chapel. GOD is adding to HIS church daily those who are to be saved.

Last picture is Heather, Sarah, and Carlos.
We have been loving the children of Barahona and establishing the Word of GOD in their hearts through the ministry of music.

Day 4:

The Word the Lord gave us today is Mark 3
As His disciples we are called to the ministry of Jesus for God’s Glory in salvation, deliverance, restoration, and healing. Today the team was encouraged with a new boldness to walk in the minstry of Jesus! All of the men in the picture above prayed to receive Jesus Christ.
We laid hands on our brother Elpidio and prayed that God would restore his eyesight. As we were there to encourage him, he had encouraged us even more as we witnessed the great joy of the Lord in his life.

Day 5:

Our morning devotions in Mark 4 with the idea of “learning to listen to Jesus”, and we certainly had a lot of opportunity to do that today.
At the close of our morning devotions it was brought to our attention by a soldier that criminals had cut the power lines. They stole the copper wire. We are praising the Lord as we discovered as our wire was cut, all others had been stolen. Another time to remember that the good hand of the Lord is upon this ministry. While the devil meant this for evil, GOD allowed it for good as it opened up a door for us to love our neighbors by showing practical Christianity. The team helped reconnect the power lines and the ministry (In Calvarys Care) provided the materials.  The picture above, Lewis and the team along with an electrician reconnecting the power lines.  Today we faced the most spiritual warfare on this mission trip. We thank GOD upon every remembrance of you for your faithfulness in praying. The whole team is encouraged by your many comments!

Day 6:

Morning Devotions this morning~ Mark 5 “ A Day In The Life Of Jesus”  The idea is, that life with Jesus is different every day and different in every situation. The life in Jesus is never a formula. And this trip has been an opportunity to live this truth out.
Our time on the island of Dominican Republic in the village of Barahona has been glorious.  We have witnessed God’s great love for the people in this primitive, poor village.   We have appreciated the faithfulness of Pastor Doug and Lewis here and have seen much fruit and a great work.
We are excited about holding their arms up in prayer, and serving with them as the Lord leads.  This is a picture of the property purchased for the church plant of Calvary Chapel Barahona. We were blessed as a team to stand on and pray for this new church property.  Our prayer from Calvary Chapel Coastlands for the ministry and people of Barahona is……….Ephesians 3:14-20
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,  that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,  may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height — to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.  Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Day 7:

Morning Devotion – Mark 6:1-13
The idea of “Never Turning His Message Into A Method”  Jesus sent His disciples out with instruction.  He taught them not to depend on what they have but to be enpowered by Him
Jesus is not a method. Jesus is God and He has a message. We are  honored that the Lord would allow us all to be His servants here in Barahona.  We have prayed with many for salvation, deliverance, healing, protection and provision. We have witnessed the empowering of His Spirit and the power of His Word.

Day 8:

Morning Devotion: Mark 6 with the idea that...
A day in the life of Jesus can be full of long days and hard work and yet Jesus also calls us to “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while”. Mark 6:31.  This is where He let us rest….

Day 9: Going home!

It is our desire that we will hear the Lord say “Well done good and faithful servants”
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”  Romans 10:15

We have left our heart with the children in Barahona for sure and for certain!
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21
